18 Days - I have changed my mind

Da is such a hoot!

"PolyBears have a mind to change?"

How could he not know what such a foolish statement could cost him?

But that is not what we are here to discuss on this

18 MORE DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE BIG DAY day

we are here to talk about Fruit Cake

Wait, don't leave

I used to not like them either and then I learned that

Some of them is Tasty

Da says these people have been making really tasty fruit cake for 101 years

out of their bakery in Claxton, GA

I guess if you like Gray Honey Buns

And Gray Pound Cake they would have been a good option back then

At some point they moved out of the gas station bakery into a swell looking factory

and developed a colored fruit cake recipe

That tastes pretty good - Da says they are great!

I has bought a big one for FluffyKitty for Christmas

Hoping that he will gift it back to me for my birthday

By the way

My Birthday is Dec 24th for anyone who hasn't sent me my present yet.

19 Days - The North Pole

As I understand, the big Guy

Is not from New Jersey as everyone thought

He lives at the North Pole

But you know me.

Ever the one to ask questions

(like how long until Dinner, Mumzie?)

I asked Da where the north pole was.

He said I should go ask Mr Google
and give him five minutes peace,
so he could finish his newspaper.

anyhow, Mr. Google

Was no help at all

By the way, there are lots of cans in Canada, but
Greenland is not green at all. I has been there and it ain't green.
If you can put the picture of a vast, never ending ice cube in your mind,
you are pretty close to "Green-Land"

Anyhoo, to help find out, I have dispatched a team of
crack Polar Bear explorers to help find the north pole,
where I understand Santa lives.

That's Doug. he is a polar bear
(not to be confused with a PolyBear).
He says it ain't in that direction.

I asked the good old US Navy to help
and they dispatched a big black boat right up there
to see if they could get an answer for me.

Doug and his buddies heard there was Seals aboard
and they thought they might get a snack,
but they couldn't figure out how to get that can
of Navy stuff open.

I dispatched a flight crew to Mr. Google's place on the map.
They flew over several times and found nothing but ice cubes.

Then totally by assident, A cruise ship
The SS Minnow, got a little off from their
intended three hour cruise course, and stumbled on
the place I has been attempting to locate.

They took a photo for us.

Unfortunately, Crew member Gilligan dropped the Skipper's

map overboard and they can't get me back to the place.
As I understand, there is a scientist on board who is attempting
to replot the course and get us back.

Good luck Professor. MAybe someone will do a show
about your adventure on TV if you are successful.

20 Days - A Fire for Papa Noel

In St. James Parish (which is French for Parish), Louisiana
and several of the other river parishes in Louisiana,
they have a nice Christmas tradition of building
big pyramids of wood on the levees in the days leading up to the Big Day.

Levees are great big piles of dirt on the side of the river
(Mississippi River)
that were constructed to hold back the river
so that you have a dry spot to build a fire.

On the night of Christmas, the locals
set the pyramids afire to show Papa Noel -

AKA

Santa,
Mr Claus,
The Man with all the toys,
Saint Nicolas,
That right jolly old elf
Old JellyBelly
you get the idea.

Anyhow, they build them all up and down the levee

and  then just after dark

they light up the fires

to show him the way to their homes.

Probably so he won't get eaten (et-up?) by an alligator
while wandering around in the dark.

In other places, they use other forms of lumination to show
Old Saint Nick the way home.

I kind'a like the stick fires

Cause it's hard to toast a marshmallow on a lightbulb.

and I bet Papa Noel would like
a toasted marshmallow to eat after he finishes his gumbo.

21 days - I has a Hat!

I is ready as soon as Mumzie gets my sleigh out and Da whips up some snow.

FluffyKitty has volunteered to be my reindeer.

Hope he can fly.

Ho Ho Ho!

22 Days - I can't wait!

!!!! NEWS FLASH !!!!

We has trees in the house.

And Da says it's OK!

Go figure ...

All decorated and ready for presents

However, Da says that we owes it to our history of house fires
(all accidents I swears)
to spend a moment talking about fire safety
during the holiday season,

so

I guess we needs to start with a little discussion
of Christmas Tree History.

Wait, we don't need to go that far back

This point in Christmas Tree History is just fine.
As I understand, there was a time when the lights for trees
was limited to candles.

Evidently this was back in the days when people had no idea
that if you forgot to pay the electric bill that they would turn your lights off.

Wait.

Da says it was in the time before there was electricity.

I think he is pulling a poor little PolyBear's leg

Because I googled it and went to wicked-peodeia could not find
any reference in either one of them know-it-all websites about
kerosene microwave popcorn so I has my doubts.

But anyhow, according to Da, back in those days they only lit up the tree for one night.

cause they didn't want to burn up all their candles,

and/or

their tree.

I have no idea why Da is so worried.

Some of my best buddies is Firemen.

Who has been to our house lots of times.

Anyhow, Mumzie says there can be no candles on our tree,
regardless of what a PolyBear might want.

or

how many brave firefighters he knows.

23 days until that day

and its time to talk about lights

Da says "It's the season of lights in the darkness."

I think he is right

I like the colored ones

Mumzie says that even the white ones are pretty.

FluffyKitty likes the big old fashoned strings

Da says he likes the ones that aren't tangled.

24 Days Until

The Big Guy's Coming to Town.

Count'em

only 24!

I is gettin Excited already!

Ever get suspicious of Kitties?

Well, I do!

Folks wants to tell you they is cutesy

and I'm sure they are right

But they can be really sneaky

This guy looks like he is up to no good

and I questions their hygene habits

even FluffyKitty

We won't talk about some of the places they licks

It is a well known fact that you can't trust them

because

WARNING - HUGE YUCK FACTOR

you never knows where they has been

I will say one thing about FluffyKitty though

He can be a real hoot!

Don't be jealous

But I has a basket!

and waffles!

And later today

I is going to teach the little FluffyKitty
that lives next door
how to fly!
